Andrew Farnsley, better known as “Andrew the Kid,” is a highly respected Los Angeles-based tattoo artist originally from San Diego. His passion for art began at an early age, and by 14 years old, he was already tattooing his friends, laying the foundation for what would become a lifelong career. He later apprenticed under the legendary Mark Mahoney, mastering the fine-line and black-and-gray techniques that define his signature style.
For over a decade, Andrew was a key artist at the iconic Shamrock Social Club, where he built a reputation for his delicate, single-needle black-and-gray work. Eventually, he ventured out on his own, continuing to refine his craft. Most recently, he joined Dr. Woo at The Hideaway, an exclusive, appointment-only tattoo studio inside the Roosevelt Hotel in Hollywood.
Andrew’s meticulous artistry has drawn a star-studded clientele, including Selena Gomez, Brad Pitt, Megan Fox, Angelina Jolie, Brooklyn Beckham, Dr. Woo, Lindsay Lohan, Eric Dane, Jon Theodore, and Koa Smith, to name a few.
A lifelong artist, Andrew has always found inspiration in drawing, and his artwork is a direct extension of his tattooing. These prints are taken from his original handkerchief drawings, a nod to the prison-style roots of single-needle black-and-gray tattooing, where makeshift canvases like handkerchiefs were commonly used. Just as he remains dedicated to tradition in his tattooing—still using a handmade tattoo machine—his hand-drawn work reflects the same precision, detail, and storytelling. These prints are a testament to his deep respect for the history of the craft, blending fine-line technique with raw, expressive imagery that stays true to the culture that shaped his art.
